As an extension of our "Giants of Jazz" project, the Accelerated Art class explored Abstract Expressionism. Using the jazz concept of improvisation, we painted in the style of Jackson Pollock, Abstract Expressionist extrordinaire. Pollock often listened to music as he poured and dripped paint onto the canvas covered floor of his studio. Pollock was partial to jazz, ragtime and boogie-woogie. Using Pollock as our guide, we listened to compositions by some of the greats featured in our "Giants" series. Each artwork is named for a song we listened to while painting.
