We have a new look on the horizon and it is called Visual CASEL. The look and feel of the computer screens, as well as the locations of familiar tools, either have changed or will change soon. In this multi-part series of the Technology Tip of the Week, we will lead you through some of the screens and help you to identify what folders hold the information you need most. Splash Screen: An opening screen to either entertain the user while the program loads or to advertise program and company credits. Folders: A folder is a packet or section of a drive or disk dedicated to holding similarly related files. Folders used to be called subdirectories in the "old-days." Visual CASEL opening screen: The very first change you will notice in this updated environment is the opening Visual CASEL splash screen as shown below in figure 1. But the real change is under the hood... ![]() Your main screen environment: Although there are subtle differences among the teacher screens all teachers have the same basic folders that will be addressed in this Technology Tip of the Week series. Figure 2 below shows the new teacher environment. As you can see, everything is stored in a desktop folder. No software links are available - including those of Pegasus Mail and NetscapeÒNavigator!
The bulk of what you will need for your day-to-day personal and curriculum management can be located in two folders. You can locate these in figure 2 above, named as TEACHER TOOLS and Tools. As you will see, even the folder environment has changed from the familiar Windows Explorer to a Web-based look and feel... Clicking on these two folders offer you the following software shortcuts: TEACHER TOOLS:![]() TOOLS: ![]() NOTE: Not all icons will be active on all desktops. In the next issue of Technology Tip of the Week we will show you some other important folders - but why wait? Explore on your own and get familiar with our new environment! Special Thanks to Mrs. Barbara Capralos for this week's tip suggestion. |
