How to Change the Color Settings
on Your Windows Computer


Did you know that even many brand new computer monitors are shipped to you with their color settings turned down to 256 colors? Not a great way to see the cyber-world, is it??

Here at the Arlington Central School District Website, we have made great efforts to design our site so that those who ARE seeing the world in 256 colors can still enjoy the entire site. But you might not HAVE to settle for less! Here is an easy way to check your computer's color settings to see if you too can see us in our TRUE colors!

  Windows

1. Right click anywhere on your Desktop
2. Choose Properties from the small menu which pops up
3. From the Display Properties pop-up box, choose the
Settings tab
4. You will see a drop down list of choices from 16 colors to True Color listed under the
Color Palette section of the menu
5. Changing the color settings on your computer may require restarting the computer to take effect
6. Enjoy your colorful new world!


  MAC

1. Click on your Control Panel settings. (This may be on the settings bar at the bottom of your screen)
2. Choose Monitors from the available choices
3. From the Dialogue box which will pop up, make your choice of
Resolution
4. Changing the color settings on your computer may require restarting the computer to take effect
5. Enjoy your colorful new world!
